High e string sounds tinny

WebPost by SuperX. I'm having a problem with one of my guitars--the high E string is tinny. This is true whether it's fretted or not, so it's probably not the nut. (although I need to have a new one cut). Eliminate the nut for sure. Actually I think it IS the nut. The nut's not cut properly for this. You could try putting a scrap of paper under the string in the slot to raise it up a bit. One or two layers. If that doesn’t help, more down angle as suggested. Or hold the string down right in front of the slot with a flat screw driver. If that sounds better the nut is cut at the wrong angle
